Subject:
Safety Recall 94S96 - Certain 1995 Model Taurus and Sable Passenger Cars for Inspection and, if Necessary, Installation of a Brake Pedal Pushrod Retainer

Affected Vehicles
Certain 1995 Model Taurus and Sable passenger cars produced from September 23, 1994 through September 26, 1994 at the Atlanta Assembly Plant.

Reasons For Recall
The brake pedal to master cylinder pushrod retainer (hairpin clip) on a small number of these cars may not have been properly installed on the service brake pedal. Improperly installed or missing retainers could result in loss of service braking capability. This could occur without warning and result in a vehicle crash. The vehicle parking brake system remains operational.

To correct this condition, dealers are to inspect the pushrod retainer for proper installation and replace it if it is missing.
