C - Both RH & LH Mirrors Inop. - Town Car (With Memory Mirrors)
Pinpoint Test C: Both RH And LH Mirrors Inoperative - Town Car (With Memory Mirrors)NOTE: Ford DOES NOT provide a procedure to perform the following pinpoint test without the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) tester 007-00500 or equivalent.
C1 - CHECK DRIVER AND PASSENGER MIRRORS
- Press driver mirror vertical and horizontal switch, note motion of driver mirror.
- Press passenger mirror vertical and horizontal switch; note motion of passenger mirror.
Do all mirrors move as expected?
YES MANUAL motions are operating properly. MAKE SURE that mirror is not loose in frame, which would cause it to change. If mirrors are OK, GO to Pinpoint Test H and test memory operation, if equipped. H - Memory Mirror Inoperative - Town Car
NO GO to C2.
C2 - Check For Driver Or Passenger Mirror Inoperative
- Operate both mirrors horizontally and vertically.
Did both mirrors move properly?
YES GO to C4. TEST only for motions which do not operate.
NO GO to C3.
C3 - Driver And Passenger Mirror Inoperative
- Both mirrors do not move horizontally or vertically.
Do both mirrors fail to move?
YES If driver seat module has just been installed, double check that part number of module is correct. CHECK fuse 8. GO to C12.
NO GO to C4.
C4 - Check Driver Mirror Vertical Movement
- Connect Rotunda New Generation STAR Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to data link connector.
- Command driver mirror vertical movement.
Does driver mirror not move up and down?
YES CHECK circuit 541 (DB) and circuit 947 (Y/R) for opens, shorts to ground or B+. If circuits OK, REPLACE driver seat module.
NO GO to C5.
C5 - Check Driver Mirror Horizontal Movement
- Command driver mirror horizontal movement.
Does driver mirror not move left and right?
YES CHECK circuit 540 (R) and 948 (Y/LB) for opens, shorts to ground or B+. If circuits OK, REPLACE driver seat module.
NO GO to C6.
C6 Check Passenger Mirror Vertical Movement
- Command passenger mirror vertical movement.
Does passenger mirror not move up and down?
YES CHECK circuits 544 (P) and 957 (P/W) for open circuit or short to ground or B+. If all checks are OK, REPLACE driver seat module. RETEST system.
NO GO to C7.
C7 - Check Passenger Mirror Horizontal Movement
- Command passenger mirror horizontal movement.
Does passenger mirror not move left or right?
YES SERVICE circuits 543 (DG) and 952 (W/LG) for open circuit or short to ground or B+. If all checks are OK, REPLACE driver seat module.
NO GO to C8.
C8 - Check Switch Input PIDS
- Mirror switch in neutral position.
- Install and set-up Rotunda New Generation Star Tester 007-00500 or equivalent.
- Request power mirror switch status PIDs.
Does data indicate any mirror switch active?
YES CHECK circuits for short to B+. CHECK for stuck switch. RETEST system.
NO GO to C9.
C9 - Check Switch Inputs
- While moving mirror switch, request power mirror switch status PIDs.
Does data indicate all mirror switches active?
YES REPLACE driver's seat module. RETEST system.
NO GO to C10.
C10 - Check Switch Input Circuits For Opens
- While moving mirror switch, request power mirror switch status PID.
- Repeat for all mirror switch positions.
Does data indicate any one switch not active?
YES SERVICE following circuits for open:
Driver Left/Right 540 (R)
Driver Up/Down 541 (DB/Y)
Passenger Left/Right 543 (DG)
Passenger Up/Down 544 (P)
NO GO to C11.
C11 - Check Switch Supply
- While holding mirror switch, request power mirror switch status PID.
Does data indicate no switches active?
YES SERVICE circuit 296 (W/P) feeding B+ to switch, circuit 676 (W/P) feeding ground to switch and circuit 945 (Y/BK) for open.
NO GO to C12.
C12 - Test Module Power
- Check for voltage on Pin C2-12 of driver seat module.
Does voltage read B+?
YES GO to C13.
NO CHECK for open in circuit 296 (W/P) or blown fuse and short to ground on circuit 296 (W/P). RETEST system.
C13 - Test Module Ground
- Check for continuity from Pin C2-11 of driver seat module to vehicle ground.
Is there continuity?
YES REPLACE driver seat module. RETEST system.
NO CHECK for open in circuit 676 (PK/G). RETEST system.
