W: Trunk Ajar Warning Never/Always ON
Pinpoint Test W - Trunk Ajar Warning Never/Always OnW1 - Check Electronic Instrument Cluster For Warnings
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Wait past prove out time.
- Check electronic instrument cluster for TRUNK AJAR warning to determine whether the warning is always on or never on.
Is TRUNK AJAR warning always on?
YES GO to W2.
NO GO to W5.
W2 - Check Luggage Compartment Door Open Warning Lamp Switch Circuit 486 (BR/W)
- Turn ignition switch to OFF. This resets the warning.
- Pull connector off of luggage compartment door open warning lamp switch.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Check electronic instrument cluster for warning.
Is warning displayed?
YES GO to W3.
NO SERVICE luggage compartment door open warning lamp switch. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
W3 - Lighting Control Module Check
NOTE: Lighting control module provides pull-up to battery for electronic instrument cluster to keep warning off. If lighting control module is inoperative or removed, electronic instrument cluster luggage compartment door ajar warning stays on.
- Disconnect luggage compartment door switch.
- Remove electronic instrument cluster.
- With ignition switch in RUN position, check for B+ at pin C2-27, circuit 486 (BR/W).
Is B+ present?
YES GO to W4.
NO REPLACE lighting control module. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system
W4 - Check Circuit 486 (BR/W)
- Turn ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect electronic instrument cluster.
- Check continuity to ground in circuit 486 (BR/W).
Is there continuity to ground?
YES SERVICE circuit 486 (BR/W) for short. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO REPLACE electronic instrument cluster. AFFIX odometer sticker to door pillar. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
W5 - Check Power And Grounds
- Check voltage on the following instrument cluster connector pins:
Pin, Circuit Number Voltage
C1-7, 54 (LG/Y) 12V (Hot At All Times)
C1-9, 964 (DB/LG) 12V (Hot In RUN)
C3-7, 88 (BK/W) 12V (Hot In RUN)
C3-2, 964 (DB/LG) 12V (Hot In RUN)
C1-8, 676(PK/O) 0V
C3-1, 676 (PK/O) 0V
Are all voltages as specified?
YES GO to W6.
NO SERVICE as required. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
W6 - Check Luggage Compartment Door Open Warning Lamp Switch For Internal Open Circuit
- Turn ignition switch to OFF.
- Pull connector oft of the luggage compartment door open warning lamp switch.
- Connect a jumper wire from circuit 486 (BR/W) at the harness connector to ground.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Check electronic instrument cluster for warning.
Is warning displayed?
YES SERVICE luggage compartment door open warning lamp switch. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO REMOVE jumper. GO to W7.
W7 - Check Wiring
- Turn ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect electronic instrument cluster.
- Check continuity in circuit 486 (BR/W).
Is there continuity present?
YES REPLACE electronic instrument cluster. AFFIX odometer sticker to door pillar. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 486 (BR/W) for open. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
