Pinpoint Test AD: High Beams Or Low Beams Inoperative

AD1 - Test Flash To Pass

- Activate flash to pass switch.

Do high beams turn on?

YES GO to AD2.
NO CHECK fuse junction panel circuit breaker 12 (20A). If circuit breaker is good, GO to AD3.

AD2 - Test High Beams

- Turn headlamps to head position.
- Activate multi-function switch to high beam position.

Do high beams turn on?

YES GO to AD4.
NO GO to AD5.

AD3 - Test Low Beams

- Activate multi-function switch to low-beam position.

Do low beams operate?

YES GO to AD6.
NO GO to Pinpoint Test AA. AA - No Communication With Lighting Control Module

AD4 - Test Flash To Pass Feed

- Check voltage of multi-function switch connector pin C2-7 circuit 221 (O/W).

Is voltage reading B+?

YES SERVICE multi-function switch. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 221 (O/W). RETEST system.

AD5 - Test High Beam Output

- Disconnect multi-function switch.
- Using a jumper wire, short pin C2-5 circuit 12 (LG/BK) Town Car or circuit 932 (GY/W) Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis to Pin C2-7 circuit 221 (O/W).

Do high beams turn on?

YES SERVICE multi-function switch. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 12 (LG/BK) (Town Car). GO to AD7 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis).

AD6 - Test High Beam Switch Feed

- Actuate headlamp switch to head position.
- Actuate multi-function switch to high beam position.
- Check voltage of circuit 502 (GY) pin C2-2 Town Car or circuit 13 (R/BK) pin C2-2 Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis to multi-function switch.

Is voltage reading B+?

YES SERVICE multi-function switch. RETEST system. GO to AD7.
NO SERVICE circuit 502 (GY) Town Car or 13 (R/BK) Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis. RETEST system.

AD7 - Test High Beam Power

- Actuate headlamp switch to head position.
- Actuate multi-function switch to high beam position.
- Check for voltage at pin C2-5 circuit 12 (LG/BK) Town Car or pinC2-5 circuit 932 (GY/W) Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis to multi-function switch.

Is voltage reading B+?

YES SERVICE circuit 12 (LG/BK) Town Car. GO to AD8 for Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis.
NO REPLACE multi-function switch. RETEST system.

AD8 - Test High Beam Switch Output

- Check for voltage at pin C2-2 circuit 932 (GY/W) of lighting control module.

Is voltage reading B+?

YES GO to AD9.
NO SERVICE circuit 932 (GY/W). RETEST system.

AD9 - Test Output

- Disconnect connectors C4 and C2 from lighting control module.
- Using a jumper wire, short pin C4-1 circuit 12 (LG/BK) to pin C2-2 circuit 932 (GY/W).

Do High Beams turn on?

YES REPLACE lighting control module. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 12 (LG/BK). RETEST system.
