Tie Rod: Service and Repair






1. Secure steering gear in holding fixture T57L-500-B, or equivalent.
2. Loosen tie rod end jam nuts, then remove tie rod ends and jam nuts from tie rods. Record turns required to remove tie rod ends.
3. Remove rack boot clamps, then the rack boots.
4. Place a suitable adjustable wrench on end teeth of rack only, then using a suitable pipe wrench, loosen and remove tie rods. Do not allow rack to turn in gear.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
