5. Remove transmission speed sensor bolt, sensor and 0-ring, then the oil filler tube bolt and tube. Discard filler tube grommet.

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS):

6. Remove Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) bolt, VSS, and 0-ring. Inspect VSS teeth for damage.
7. Remove 2 Manual Lever Position (MLP) sensor bolts, then the sensor.

Main Control Cover Bolt Loosening/Tightening Sequence:

8. Remove 14 main control cover bolts in sequence shown in the Main Control Cover Bolt Loosening/Tightening Sequence image, then the cover assembly from transaxle case. Discard gasket.
9. Remove wiring harness clip from main control, then the 12 main control bolts.

CAUTION: Avoid damaging loose manual valve.

Z-link Location:

10. Pull main control slightly away from transaxle case, then disconnect Z-link at manual valve.
11. Disconnect electrical connector at case bore, then remove main control from case.

Thermostatic Oil Level Control Valve, Bracket, And Bolt:

12. Remove thermostatic oil level control valve bracket bolt and bracket.

Servo Cover Compression:

13. Using jet plug remover tool No. T77L-9533-B or equivalent, remove servo cover cap from transaxle case and discard, then attach servo cover tool No. T94P-77000-L or equivalent to oil pump assembly.
14. Compress servo cover assembly as shown in the Servo Cover Compression image, then remove servo cover tool and cover assembly.

CAUTION: Because servo and cover are spring loaded, use caution during removal.

15. Remove intermediate and overdrive servo assembly, then reposition transaxle so that converter housing faces up.
16. Remove 20 converter housing to transaxle case bolts, then separate housing from case. Discard split flange gasket.

Differential Bearing, Shim, And Speedometer Drive Gear:

17. Remove differential bearing and shim, then the speedometer drive gear.
18. Remove final drive carrier and differential assembly, then the front chain cover. Front chain cover is snap fit into rear chain cover.

Driven Sprocket Thrust Bearing Assembly:

19. Remove driven sprocket thrust bearing assembly, then the drive sprocket thrust washer from reverse/overdrive ring gear assembly. Washer may be attached to converter housing.
20. Lift drive chain assembly, driven sprocket assembly, and reverse/overdrive ring gear assembly together from transaxle case, then separate chain from driven sprocket and ring gear.
21. Remove rear chain cover and magnet from transaxle case. Check magnet for excessive metal particle accumulation.

Oil Filter Recirculating Regulator Exhaust Seal Removal Tools:

22. Assemble blind hole puller actuator pin tool No. D80L-100-G, collet tool No. D80L-100-Q, and impact slide hammer tool No. T50T-100-A or equivalents as shown in the Oil Filter Recirculating Regulator Exhaust Seal Removal Tools image.
23. Install assembled tools in oil filter recirculating regulator exhaust seal, then remove and discard seal.
24. Remove and discard oil filter and seal, then remove driven sprocket bearing and selective fit shim from transaxle case.

Manual Valve Detent Lever Actuating Rod And Parking Cam Actuator Lever:

25. Separate socket end of manual valve detent lever actuating rod from parking cam actuator lever, then from manual valve detent lever.
26. Remove reverse/overdrive ring gear thrust bearing, then the reverse/overdrive carrier assembly and sun gear and shell assembly.
27. Remove reverse/overdrive sun gear thrust bearing. Bearing may be attached to sun gear and shell assembly.
28. Remove low/intermediate ring gear assembly, then the low/intermediate carrier thrust bearing. Bearing may be attached to ring gear assembly.

Low/intermediate Sun Gear, Thrust Bearing, And Forward One-way Clutch Assemblies:

29. Remove low/intermediate carrier assembly, then the low/intermediate sun gear thrust bearing, forward one-way clutch, and low/intermediate sun gear assembly.
30. Remove turbine shaft thrust bearing, then the shaft. Bearing may be attached to forward one-way clutch and low/intermediate sun gear assembly.
31. Remove forward/coast/direct cylinder assembly and reverse clutch drum assembly, then the pump support thrust bearing. Bearing may be attached to reverse clutch drum.
32. Remove low one-way clutch retaining ring, thrust plate, and clutch assembly, then the low/reverse clutch wave spring.
