Disassembly

DISASSEMBLE

MTX-75 Manual Transaxle:






1. Mount transaxle in bench fixture tool No. T57L-500-B1 or equivalent, then disconnect pressure line and bleeder screw at clutch slave cylinder.
2. Remove clutch slave cylinder bolts, then pull cylinder out of clutch housing
3. Remove control select cover screws, then carefully remove left and righthand axle shaft seals.
4. Remove speedometer driven gear assembly retaining pin, then slide assembly out of case.
5. Using selector shaft seal replacement tool No. T94P-7025-HH, or equivalent, remove shifter shaft seal.
6. Separate clutch and transaxle housings, noting the following:
a. Note bolt locations for installation reference. Do not remove dowels.
b. It may be necessary to use a prybar and suitable block of wood to separate housings from one another.
7. Lift differential assembly out of housing and remove magnet, then slide long and short selector fork rails out of case.

3-4 Shift Fork Removal:






8. Remove 1-2 shift fork, then rotate 5-R shift fork aside and remove 3-4 shift fork.
9. Remove two reverse idler gear shaft bracket bolts, then move input and output shafts carefully aside and remove bracket.
10. Remove reverse idler gear, then lift input and output shafts out of case together.
11. Remove shift control shaft block retaining bolt, then the shaft.
12. Using a hammer and selector shaft bearing replacement tool No. T94P-7025-DH, or equivalent, remove outer shift lever shaft bushing and inner shift lever shaft bearing.

Bearing Race Removal:






13. Remove differential, input shaft, and output shaft bearing races and shims from transaxle case, then remove three bolts from reverse idler shaft mounting plate.
14. Drive reverse idler gear shaft out with a suitable brass punch.
