Flow of Diagnosis

Inspection and Verification

1. Verity the customer's concern by operating the electronic door lock control system to duplicate the concern.

2. Inspect to determine if any mechanical or electrical concerns apply. Refer to Visual Inspection Chart.
3. If inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily serviced, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
4. If a concern remains after the inspection, use the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent connected to the data link connector (DLC) to retrieve continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the Remote Anti-Theft Personality Module and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for generic electronic module (GEM) and to execute self test diagnostics for the generic electronic module, and the remote anti-theft personality module.
5. Itself test is passed and no diagnostic trouble codes are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.
6. If diagnostic trouble codes are retrieved, go to the DTC Index for the appropriate module, GEM or RAP to continue diagnostics.
7. If the generic electronic module and the remote anti-theft personality module cannot be accessed by the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester, go to Pinpoint Test A Pinpoint Test A: No Communications With GEM Module for No Module Communications to GEM. Go to Pinpoint Test B Pinpoint Test B: No Communications With RAP Module for No Module Communication to Remote Anti-Theft Personality Module (RAP).
