Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

WARNING: Refer to Technician Safety Information under Service Precautions for important fuel handling and safety information.

1. Perform Fuel Pressure Release procedure.
2. Remove Push Connect Fittings at both ends of the fuel filter and base.
3. Install retainer clips in each connect fitting.

NOTE: The flow arrow direction should be positioned forward and downward to ensure proper flow of fuel through replacement fuel filter and base.

4. Remove fuel filter and base from bracket by loosening mounting clamp enough to allow fuel filter and base to pass through.

INSTALLATION

1. Install fuel filter and base in bracket, ensuring proper direction of flow as noted earlier. Locate the fuel filter and base against tab at lower end of bracket.
2. Install Push Connect Fittings at both ends of fuel filter and base.
3. Tighten mounting clamp to 1.7-2.8 Nm (15-25 lb in).
4. Start engine and inspect for leaks.
