Liquid Lines

NOTE: Whenever a refrigerant line is replaced, it is also necessary that the suction accumulator/drier also be replaced.

REMOVAL
1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system following the recommended service procedures. Observe all safety precautions.

2. Remove the nut retaining the A/C hose support bracket.
3. Disconnect the condenser to evaporator tube from the A/C evaporator core inlet using the Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool T81P-19623-G1. Cap the A/C evaporator core inlet to prevent the entrance of dirt and moisture.
4. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

5. Remove the lower radiator air deflector.
6. Disconnect the condenser to evaporator tube from the A/C condenser core outlet tube using the Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool T81P-19623-G2. Plug the lines to prevent dirt and excessive moisture from entering.
7. Lower the vehicle to the floor.

8. Remove the screw retaining the A/C condenser outlet tube bracket and remove the A/C condenser outlet tube bracket from the condenser to evaporator tube.
9. Remove the retaining screw and the condenser to evaporator tube from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. With the protective caps and the A/C charging valve cap installed, route the new refrigerant line.
2. Connect the condenser to evaporator tube to the A/C evaporator core inlet tube using new 0-ring seals lubricated with clean Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
3. Secure the condenser to evaporator tube to the side rail with the retaining screw. Tighten the retaining screw to 7.2-10.8 Nm (64-95 in lb).
4. Install the A/C condenser outlet tube bracket. Tighten the retaining screw to 7.2-10.8 Nm (64-95 in lb).
5. Install the A/C hose support bracket. Tighten the nut to 5.2-8.8 Nm (46-77 in lb).
6. Raise the vehicle on the hoist.
7. Connect the condenser to evaporator tube to the A/C evaporator core inlet tube using new 0-ring seals lubricated with clean Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
8. Install the lower radiator air deflector. Tighten the three splash shield to radiator screws to 7-11 Nm (62-97 in lb) and the remaining 11 screws to 2-3 Nm (18-27 in lb).
9. Lower the vehicle to the floor
10. Leak-test, evacuate, and charge the refrigerant system. Observe all safety precautions.
11. Check the A/C system for proper operation.
