Digital Volt-Ohmmeter

Digital Volt-Ohmmeter:

- The Digital Volt/Ohm Meter (DVOM) is similar to the analog meter, except the DVOM uses numerical values, instead of a sweeping needle. Another primary difference is that some DVOMs are equipped with an internal resistance of 10 mega ohms; which allows the DVOM to be used in measuring critical circuits without the fear of damage being caused.

- Special test leads and connectors allow some DVOMs to be connected to other test equipment within a shop.

- Like the analog meter, the DVOM is equipped with test leads (red = positive, black = negative or ground). The test leads have polarity and must be connected properly. If a DVOM is connected backwards and minus sign (-) is normally indicated in the read-out display.
