ISSUE:
A windnoise may be evident on some vehicles at the A-pillar and/or windshield. The windnoise may be heard at varying speeds and conditions. This may be caused by the cutline seal on the doors not being fully seated which allows the seal to vibrate. There may also be wind traveling up the A-pillar and lifting the windshield moulding which permits it to act as a reed in a crosswind.
ACTION:
Replace the cutline seal and place a bead of RTV sealer under the windshield moulding. This will reduce the possibility of the windshield moulding raising. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Replace the cutline seal and verity the seal is fully seated (Figure 1). When the door is closed it should contact the body side. If it does not, firmly seat it under the door top moulding using your hands.
2. Check for a foam blocker underneath the windshield moulding on both sides of the vehicle at the base of the A-pillar (Figure 2). If foam blocker is not present, fill the section under the windshield moulding with RTV sealer (60 mm long starting 50 mm above the base of the A-pillar).
3. Drive the vehicle to verify the repair.
