CALIBRATION:
Refer to the Calibration Identification Charts for affected calibrations. The calibrations listed are current calibrations Past calibrations for the listed vehicles are also included.
WARNING:
THIS MODIFICATION IS AUTHORIZED ONLY FOR THE LISTED ENGINE. PERFORMING THIS MODIFICATION ON OTHER ENGINE CALIBRATIONS IS UNAUTHORIZED AND COULD CREATE LIABILITY UNDER APPLICABLE FEDERAL OR LOCAL LAWS.
ISSUE:
The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may illuminate and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307, and/or P0308 may be stored in memory with no driveability concerns present.
ACTION:
Reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) using the Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS) or New Generation Star (NGS) Tester. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. For all MIL On concerns, conduct normal diagnostics and repair as required.
2. Check to verify vehicle does not have the latest calibration. If it does not, reprogram the PCM with the appropriate calibration, referring to the following Calibration Identification Chart using the April 1997 or later CD-ROM.
NOTE:
REGIONAL APPROVAL MUST BE OBTAINED WHEN IT IS NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE PCM.
NOTE:
THE FOLLOWING CHARTS LIST ALL CURRENT CALIBRATION REVISIONS. PAST CALIBRATIONS FOR THE VEHICLES LISTED ON THIS CHART ARE ALSO INCLUDED.
Obtain an Authorized Modification Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
NOTE:
DEALERS MUST REPROGRAM THE PCM USING SBDS OR NGS ALONG WITH THE LATEST CD-ROM.
