Windows and Glass: Service Precautions
NOTE: Prior to disconnecting battery, record pre-set radio frequencies.DISARMING
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Allow at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete.
3. Remove two air bag retaining screw covers from rear of steering wheel.
4. Remove two screw and washer assemblies retaining driver's air bag module to steering wheel.
5. Attach Rotunda Air Bag Simulator 105-00010, or equivalent, to air bag terminals on clockspring assembly to simulate air bag.
6. Remove passenger's air bag as follows:
a. Unsnap passenger's air bag trim cover tabs.
b. Open glove compartment and press side inward, then lower glove compartment to floor.
c. Working through glove compartment opening, remove two air bag module retaining screws.
d. Disconnect two air bag module electrical connectors.
e. Remove air bag module.
7. Connect a second air bag simulator to wiring harness in place of passenger's air bag module. Connect tool to wiring harness having LB/O and PK/BK wire.
8. Connect battery ground cable.
ARMING
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Wait one minute for back-up power supply to deplete.
3. Remove air bag simulator from clockspring connector.
4. Position driver's air bag on steering wheel and secure with screw and Washer assemblies.
5. Install passenger's air bag as follows:
a. Remove air bag simulator from air bag module wiring harness connector.
b. Connect electrical connectors to air bag module in instrument panel.
c. Install air bag module retaining bolts.
d. Return glove compartment to correct position.
e. Connect battery ground cable.
f. Install air bag module trim cover.
6. Place ignition switch in RUN position and note air bag warning lamp operation. Indicator lamp should illuminate for approximately six seconds, then turn OFF.
