Wiper Motor: Testing and Inspection

CAUTION: Keep hands clear of moving linkage when performing the following test procedure to prevent Injury.

CAUTION: Do not handle any windshield wiper motor (17508) abusively when diagnosing wiper operations because it will damage the magnets and make the windshield wiper motor inoperative. Rough handling of new replacement windshield wiper motor may also damage the magnets.






1. Remove windshield wiper (17500) module as outlined.
2. Set windshield wiper on test bench.
3. Connect the green lead from the test equipment, such as Rotunda Battery and Starter Tester 0100725 or equivalent, to the battery positive (plus) post.
4. Connect the positive (red) lead from the tester to the common brush terminal.
5. Attach a ground first to the low-speed connection and then to the high-speed connection at the connector plug as shown. In either case, the current draw should not exceed 4.5 amperes.
