Keyless Entry Transmitter: Description and Operation

NOTE: The electronic door lock control system will not function when the ignition switch is in RUN or ACC.

- The electronic door lock control system includes two four-button (hand-held) keyless entry remote transmitters. Up to four transmitters can be programmed to a single vehicle.
- Keyless entry remote transmitter are reprogrammable and all keyless entry remote transmitters for the vehicle must be programmed in the same session. When troubleshooting the system, one keyless entry remote transmitter is needed to perform tests.
- To unlock the driver front door, press the UNLOCK button on a keyless entry remote transmitter which is programmed once into the driver door module.
- To unlock both front doors, press the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter a second time within five seconds of the first unlock.
- If more than five seconds have elapsed since the first press of the UNLOCK button, pressing the UNLOCK button again will only unlock the driver front door.
- To unlock the luggage compartment door, press the TRUNK button twice on the keyless entry remote transmitter. Two presses are required to prevent inadvertent luggage compartment door opening.
- To turn on interior lamps and door lock cylinder illumination, press any of these keyless entry remote transmitter buttons: UNLOCK, TRUNK or PANIC.
- Security lighting will turn on exterior lamps at low ambient light levels (with Autolamps on) when the transmitter unlock button is depressed.
- To lock both doors, press LOCK button once on the keyless entry remote transmitter.
- To confirm that both doors have locked, press LOCK button again within five seconds of the first press. This will sound the horn and lock both doors again.

To program a keyless entry remote transmitter, perform these steps:
1. Enter the five digit permanent entry code into keyless entry keypad.

NOTE: The permanent entry code for the driver door module is viewed by requesting the PID-KEY CODE on Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent.

2. Within five seconds of pressing last button of permanent code, press the 1/2 button.
3. Press LOCK button on first keyless entry remote transmitter within five seconds of pressing the 1/2 button.
4. Press any button on second keyless entry remote transmitter within five seconds of pressing the first transmitter LOCK button.
- After each successful transmitter reprogramming, the doors will signal by locking and unlocking.
- If keyless entry keypad illumination goes out before all transmitters are reprogrammed into driver door module, the process must be repeated beginning with Step 1.
- Up to four transmitters may be programmed to a vehicle in this manner.
