Flow of Diagnosis

1. Verify the customer's concern by operating speed control system to duplicate the condition.
2. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
- Inspect and verify that:
- actuator cable is adjusted properly without holding the throttle open increasing idle speed
- throttle linkage operates freely smoothly when connected to the actuator cable speed control servo.

Electrical
- Verify proper horn operation.
- Verify stoplamp operation.
- Check circuit fuses: power distribution box horn (15 A) fuse junction panel fuses 1 (15 A), and 6 (15 A), fuse junction panel fuses 1 and 6.
- Inspect and verify that:
- connections are complete with no loose wires or terminals.
- wiring is not broken, shorted or corroded.
- wiring is not misrouted.

3. If the inspection reveals obvious concern(s) that can be readily identified, service as required.
4. If the concern(s) remain after inspection, determine the symptom(s) and go to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
