Remove and Install
REMOVAL1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove LH instrument panel moulding and RH instrument panel moulding.
3. Remove the six retaining screws and remove the lower instrument panel steering column cover.
4. Remove screw fastening transmission range indicator column bracket to the steering column. Detach the cable loop from the pin and cane shift lever. Remove the column bracket from the column.
5. Remove the four screws retaining instrument cluster.
6. Disconnect the instrument cluster connectors from the instrument cluster back plate and remove the instrument cluster.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the instrument cluster to the instrument panel. Connect instrument cluster connectors. Make sure the transmission range cable is routed properly. Install the four cluster retaining screws and tighten to 0.8-1.4 N.m (8-12 Lb-In).
2. Position the transmission range indicator column bracket to the steering column (locate pin in column slot) and adjust the transmission range indicator as follows:
a. Place the transmission selector lever arm and support on the steering column in the 1 position.
b. Place the loop on the indicator cable assembly over the retainer pin on the shift lever.
c. Secure cable bracket with screw.
d. Shift the transmission selector lever arm and support into the (D) position. Adjust the thumb wheel on the steering column so the entire width of the pointer falls within the letter (D).
e. When properly adjusted, the entire width of the pointer must fall within the width of the letter (D) and must touch the remaining letters or numerals when viewed parallel to the center line of the steering column from the driver's position.
3. Position the lower instrument panel steering column cover and install the six retaining screws.
4. Connect battery ground cable.
5. Check operation of the instruments.
