Lower






INSTALLATION
1. Raise vehicle.
2. Position the lower fuel tank rack assembly to body and install eight retaining bolts. Tighten to 47-63 Nm (35-46 lb ft).

WARNING: The lower fuel tank rack assembly must be secured to the Rotunda Fuel Rack Removal Bracket Set 014-00470 or equivalent with retaining pins.

NOTE:
Make sure the tank solenoid valves do not contact the body or damage to the solenoid valves may occur.

3. Connect fuel supply line O-ring seal fitting to the upper tank solenoid valve of the lower rack. Using backup wrench, tighten to 34-39 Nm (25-28 lb ft).

CAUTION: Replace O-ring seal in fittings. Lubricate O-ring seals with clean engine oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-F.

NOTE: Natural gas approved O-rings are identified with a yellow stripe. Do not use unapproved O-rings.

NOTE: Make sure all O-ring sealing surfaces are clean.

4. Connect lower tank rack assembly wire harness connector. Connect upper fuel tank rack assembly wire harness and install in bracket.
5. Connect the upper fuel tank rack assembly to lower tank rack assembly fuel pressure lines. Tighten tube fittings to 35-43 Nm (26-31 lb ft).
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Connect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

8. Perform Post-Service Procedures. Service and Repair
9. Inspect for leaks. Service any leaks located.
10. Raise vehicle.
11. Install lower tank rack shield assembly as described. Tighten retaining nuts to 9-12 Nm (80-106 lb in).
12. Lower vehicle.
