Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Record pre-set radio frequencies for reprogramming following completion of service procedures.
WARNING: The electrical circuit necessary for system deployment is powered directly from the battery. To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the battery ground cable must be disconnected prior to servicing or replacing any system components.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable. Wait one minute for backup power supply to deplete its stored energy.
3. Remove radiator upper sight shield.
4. Disconnect RH or LH primary crash sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove three screws retaining RH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket at front of radiator support and remove RH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket.
INSTALLATION
1. Position RH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket in vehicle and secure RH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket to RH or LH front of radiator support with primary crash sensor-to-radiator support screws. Tighten screws to 11.4-15.6 Nm (9-11 lb ft).
2. Connect RH or LH primary crash sensor wire lead connector to wiring assembly connector and secure wiring retainer.
3. Install radiator upper sight shield.
4. Reconnect battery ground cable.
5. Prove out air bag system.
6. Reprogram radio frequencies and set clock.
