Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Flow of Diagnosis

1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the outside rear view mirrors to duplicate the condition.
2. Inspect the components of the power rear view mirror system to determine if one of the mechanical or electrical conditions are present:

Mechanical
- Damaged outside rear view mirrors or inside rear view mirror.
- Damaged outside rear view mirror control.
Electrical
- Open fuse Junction panel fuses:
+ Fuse 8 (15 A).
+ Fuse 17 (10 A).
+ Fuse 5 (15 A).
- Damage to wiring harness.
- Loose or corroded connections.

3. Flex the harness and connectors at the outside rear view mirror control as well as the outside rear view mirrors. Look for obvious signs of opens or shorts.
4. If the inspection reveals obvious concerns that can be readily identified, service as required.
5. If the concerns remain after the inspection, determine the symptoms and go to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
