Pinpoint Test A: No Module CommunicationsA1 - Check Fuse Power
- Turn ignition switch to "OFF"
- Remove ABS Fuse (30A) from power distribution box.
- using an ohmmeter connected to a known good ground, measure resistance across fuse terminals.
- Is resistance 5 ohms or less?
YES - Go to A3.
NO - Go to A2.
A2 - Check supply circuit for short to ground
- Disconnect anti-lock brake control module connector C162.
- Using an ohmmeter connected to known good ground, measure resistance at the control module connector pins C162-1 and C162-2, circuit 601 (LB/PK).
- Is resistance 5 ohms or less ?
YES - Service Circuit 601 (LB/PK) for a short to ground. Replace ABS fuse (30A). Restore vehicle. Retest system.
NO - Replace the anti-lock brake control module. Restore vehicle. Retest System.
A3 - Check for battery power at anti-lock brake module
- Reinstall ABS Fuse (30A) in power distribution Box.
- Disconnect connector C162 from ABS module.
- Turn the ignition switch to "RUN" position.
- Using a voltmeter, measure voltage at module connector pins C162-1 and C162-2, Circuit 601 (LB/PK).
- Is battery positive voltage present ?
YES - Go to A5.
NO - Go to A4.
A4 - Check Circuit 601 (LB/PK) for an open
- Turn ignition switch to "OFF".
- Remove ABS Fuse (30A) from power distribution Box.
- Disconnect ABS module connector C162.
- Using an ohmmeter, connect one lead to output side of ABS fuse fuse (30A). Connect second lead to ABS control module connector pin C162-1 then C162-2, Circuit 601 (LB/PK).
- Is resistance 5 ohms or less ?
YES - Go to A5.
NO - Service Circuit 601 (LB/PK). Restore vehicle. Retest System.
A5 - Check Circuit 57 (BK) for and Open
- Using an ohmmeter connected to a known good ground, connect second lead to ABS module connector Pins C162-13, C162-14 and C162-22, Circuit 57 (BK).
- Measure resistance.
- Is resistance 5 ohms or less ?
YES - Diagnose Data Connector Link Circuit 70 (LB/W). Refer To Powertrain Management.
NO - Service Circuit 57 (BK). Restore vehicle. Retest System.
