Horn Switch: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Center front wheels to the straight-ahead position.
WARNING
^ ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN SERVICING AN AIR BAG VEHICLE AND WHEN HANDLING AN AIR BAG.
^ THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR AIR BAG SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY AND BACKUP POWER SUPPLY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE MUST BE DISCONNECTED FOR ONE MINUTE TO DE-ENERGIZE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Disconnect positive battery cable and wait one minute.
4. Remove driver side air bag module.
5. Disconnect two ground wires (BK) from upper horn switch plates. Disconnect horn wire (P/O) at lower right horn switch plate. Remove four Torx(R) head retaining bolts and remove horn switch plates.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
2. Tighten retaining bolts to 4-5 N.m (36-44 Lb-In).
