Cylinder Head Assembly: Description and Operation

CAUTION:
This engine has aluminum cylinder heads (6049) and requires a special corrosion inhibiting coolant to avoid cooling system damage for the coolant specifications.

DESCRIPTION
This engine is a V-6 engine with dual overhead camshafts (DOHC), four valves per cylinder and Sequential Multi-Port Fuel Injection (SFI)

AIR INTAKE
A unique air intake system utilizes a secondary intake port along with a primary intake port. The secondary port is opened and closed by an electric actuator, thus improving low and mid-range torque and fuel efficiency.
