Map Light: Description and Operation

The dome/map combination lamp system consists of:
^ Dome/map combination interior lamp with replaceable miniature bulb.
^ Dome/map combination lamp switches.
^ Lamp switches.
^ Rear dome interior lamp assembly.
^ Interior lamp relay (located in the fuse junction panel).
^ Circuit wiring.
^ Circuit protection.

Power is provided to the dome/map combination interior lamp through circuit protection in the fuse junction panel.

With the map lamp switch in the ON position, the contacts close and provide a ground for the map lamp.
With the dome lamp switch in the ON position, the contacts close and provide a ground for the dome lamp.
With the dome lamp switch in the 12 SEC position, ground signal for the dome lamps is provided to the lamp switch, central timer module and interior lamp relay. The dome lamp will stay illuminated for 12 seconds after the doors are closed or when the ignition switch is turned to the RUN or ACC position.

Ground is provided through Circuit 31 (BK).
