K: Low Fuel Indicator Never/Always ON
K1 Check Low Fuel Level Warning Switch
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Connect Rotunda Instrument Gauge System Tester 014-R1063 or equivalent to Circuit 29 (Y/W) at instrument cluster connector Pin C250, Circuit 27 (O/LG) FFV Vehicles (without disconnecting connector).
- Set tester to 56 ohms.
- Turn ignition switch to the RUN position, wait 60 seconds.
Is low fuel indicator on?
Yes
REPLACE low fuel level warning switch and fuel gauge. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
No
GO to K2.
K2 Check Gauge And Indicator
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Reset tester to 25 ohms.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Wait 60 seconds.
Is indicator on and gauge showing 1/16 tank?
Yes
Low fuel indication system operating properly. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
No
G0 to K3.
K3 Check Indicator
- With ignition switch in RUN, ground Circuit 29 (Y/W) between indicator and low fuel level warning switch.
Is indicator on?
Yes
REPLACE low fuel level warning switch and fuel gauge. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
No
G0 to K4.
K4 Check Indicator Bulb
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Remove instrument cluster as described.
- Remove indicator bulb and measure resistance of bulb using an ohmmeter.
Does bulb test OK?
Yes
REPLACE instrument cluster printed circuit. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
No
REPLACE indicator bulb. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
