Door Latch Striker Plate
NOTE: The door latch striker plate should not be adjusted to correct door sag.
The door latch striker plate can be adjusted laterally and vertically as well as fore-and-aft.
The door latch striker plate can be shimmed to get the clearance shown between the door latch striker plate and the rear door latch and front door latch. To check this clearance, clean rear door latch and front door latch jaws and door latch striker plate area. Apply a thin layer of dark grease such as Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C or XG-1-K, or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B to door latch striker plate. As door is closed and opened, a measurable pattern will appear on the door latch striker plate. Use a maximum of two shims under the door latch striker plate.
Move door latch striker plate laterally to provide a flush fit at the door and pillar or quarter panel. Use correct bit from Torx� Drive Bit Set D79P-2 100-T or equivalent to loosen and tighten the door latch striker plate. Tighten screws to 20-26 N.m (15-19 lb-ft).
