Wagon

Front Disc Brake (Part 1 Of 2):

Front Disc Brake (Part 2 Of 2):

FRONT DISC BRAKES
Front disc brakes are standard on all vehicles. The front disc brakes consist of:
- pin slider type disc brake calipers.
- a 276 mm (10.9 inch) full-cast vented front disc brake rotor.
- brake shoes and linings.
- front brake hoses.

Rotor
The front disc brake rotors are:
- full-cast, vented.
- mounted on the wheel hub.
- serviced with the disc brake caliper assembly removed.

REAR DISC BRAKES

Rear Disc Brakes, Wagon (Part 1 Of 2):

Rear Disc Brakes, Wagon (Part 2 Of 2):

The rear disc brakes consist of the following components:
- solid, full cast rear disc brake rotors (2C026).
- hydraulically activated single piston rear disc brake caliper assemblies.
- integral, cable-operated parking brake mechanisms.
- rear disc support brackets (2B511).
- rear brake shoes and linings.
- rear wheel brake hoses (2A442).
Except for the parking brake mechanism, the rear disc brake caliper assembly is similar to the front disc brake caliper. The added parking brake lever on the back of the rear disc brake caliper is cable-operated, by the parking brake control (2780), located below the instrument panel (04320), similar to rear drum brake installations. The caliper parking brake mechanism is self-adjusting.

NOTE: Periodic use of the parking brake is required to adjust the rear disc brakes.

Support Bracket
On sedans the rear disc support bracket transmits braking torque from the inner and outer rear brake shoes and linings to the brake adapter.
On station wagons the rear disc support bracket transmits braking torque from the inner and outer rear brake shoe and lining to the rear wheel spindle (4A013).

Adapter
On sedans the rear disc brake adapter attaches to the rear wheel spindle (4A013). The rear disc support bracket is attached to the rear disc brake adapter.
