Drum Brake System: Description and Operation

Drum And Spindle:





The rear drum brakes consist of:
^ Non-servo, leading-trailing shoe (2200) design.
^ rear wheel cylinders (2261).
^ 225 mm (8.85 inch) diameter brake drums (1126).
^ Brake drums are attached to the rear wheel spindle (4A013) by a wheel hub (1104) with pushnuts.
^ The lug bolts (1107) and lug nuts (1012) are metric (12 mm).
^ Automatic adjustment of the drum brake assemblies by an incremental adjuster that adjusts during braking whenever a wear gap is sufficient to actuate the adjuster wheel.
^ Brake adjustment occurs in forward and rearward braking.
^ Rear brake backing plate (2212) mounted to the rear wheel spindle (4A013).
^ brake shoe retracting springs (2035), brake shoe hold-down spring pins (2069) and brake shoe hold-down springs (2068).
