Hydraulic System: Description and Operation

Taurus and Sable vehicles are equipped with a conventional, pedal-actuated hydraulic dual brake system. The dual hydraulic system without ABS, is diagonal split with the RH front and LH rear as the primary circuit and the LH front and RH rear as the secondary circuit.

COMPONENTS
The system consists of the following:
^ Power brake booster (2005)
^ Brake master cylinder (2140)
^ Hydraulic brake tubes and hoses
^ Front disc brake calipers (2B121)
^ Rear disc brake calipers (2552) or rear wheel cylinders (2261)
^ Anti-lock brake system (ABS) components.
^ Proportioning Valve.

PROPORTIONING VALVE
^ Wagons have a fixed brake pressure control valve, located under the master cylinder.
^ Sedans are equipped with a Load Sensor Proportioning Valve, located under the rear of the vehicle.
