Ventilation System
VENTILATION-FRESH AIR
Vehicles are equipped with either manual A/C-heater air conditioning or an electronic automatic temperature control climate control system. Ventilation is provided by both systems and features:
^ outside air intake from the cowl area.
^ an optional cowl-mounted pollen filter.
^ exhaust vents in the luggage compartment.
The pollen filter consists of three layers of polyester and polycarbonate non-woven fabric in a frame of the same material. It restricts particles larger than 3 microns, completely blocking pollen and dust which range in size from 7 to 100 microns.
AIR DISTRIBUTION
Outside air is drawn into the vehicle through the cowl. Air distribution within the vehicle is controlled by:
^ the driver through function selections on the manual A/C-heater system.
^ the electronic automatic temperature control.
^ the driver using manual override of the electronic automatic temperature control system.
Air enters the passenger compartment from the following:
^ instrument panel registers
^ front floor duct
^ defroster nozzle
^ side window demisters
^ rear floor duct
^ rear console registers (with five-passenger seating only)
Passenger compartment air is exhausted from the vehicle through open windows or quarter vent air grilles.
