Vehicle Damage Warnings
SERVICE PRECAUTIONS^ Never open or loosen a connection before evacuating the refrigerant from the system with a recycling machine such as the Rotunda Mobile Recycling Center 023-00150 or equivalent.
^ When loosening a connection after recovery, allow it to leak off before opening the fitting if any residual pressure is evident.
^ A system which has been opened to replace a component or one which has discharged through leakage must be evacuated before charging.
^ Immediately after disconnecting a component from the system, seal the open fittings with a cap or plug.
^ Before disconnecting a component from the system, thoroughly clean the outside of the fittings.
^ Do not remove sealing caps from a replacement component until ready to install.
^ Refrigerant oil will absorb moisture from the atmosphere if left uncapped. Do not open an oil container until ready to use and install cap immediately after using. Store oil only in a clean, moisture-free container
^ Before connecting an open fitting, always install a new O-ring seal. Coat fitting and O-ring seal with specified refrigerant oil before connecting.
^ When installing a refrigerant line, avoid sharp bends. Position line away from exhaust or any sharp edges which may damage the line.
^ Tighten fittings only to specified torque. Do not overtighten.
^ When disconnecting a threaded fitting, use a wrench on both halves of the fitting to prevent twisting of refrigerant lines or tubes.
^ Do not open a refrigerant system or uncap a replacement component unless it is as close as possible to room temperature. This will prevent condensation from forming inside a component which is cooler than surrounding air.
^ Keep service tools and work area clean. Avoid contamination of a refrigerant system through careless work habits.
^ Whenever components in the engine compartment or instrument panel areas are being serviced, the battery ground cable must be disconnected to eliminate the possibility of electrical shorts, burned wiring and fires. Extreme care must be exercised when performing any electrical test where the battery must be connected to operate the system.
