Rear Door Window Glass: Service and Repair






REMOVAL
1. Remove rear door trim panel and watershield. Doors
2. Remove window garnish moulding.
3. Remove rear door glass inside weatherstrip by gently pulling weatherstrip from door flange.






4. Remove the rear door window glass-to-rear door glass channel front bracket attaching rivets.

CAUTION: Prior to removing rivet center pins, a suitable block support insert between the door outer panel and glass to stabilize the glass during rivet pin removal. Use a 1/4 inch diameter drill to drill out remainder of rivet, using care not to enlarge sheet metal holes or damage the plastic retainer and spacer.

5. Remove rear door window stabilizer.
6. Lift the rear door window glass up between the door belt opening and remove from the rear door.

INSTALLATION
1. Install door window glass channel bracket retainer and door window glass bracket spacers into rear door window glass. Install rear door window glass into door.
2. Secure rear door window glass to rear door glass channel front bracket using Heavy Duty Riveter 501-D011 (D80L-23200-A) or equivalent to install two rivets.

NOTE: Two 1/4-20 x 1-inch bolts and two 1/4-20 nut and washer assemblies may be used as alternates for rear door window glass retention. However, torque must not exceed 4-7 N.m (36-61 Lb-In). Equivalent metric retainers may be used.

3. Install rear door glass inside weatherstrip, using hand pressure to push rear door weatherstrip onto rear door flange.
4. Install window garnish moulding.
5. Install rear door window stabilizer with glass in full down position. Secure with retaining nut. Tighten to 7-11 N.m (62-97 Lb-In).
6. Cycle rear door window glass to verify smooth operation.
7. Install rear door trim shield and rear door trim panel.
