REMOVAL1. Turn ignition switch to RUN. Turn multi-function switch to LO. Allow windshield wiper motor to move the windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shafts three or four cycles, then turn OFF the multi-function switch. This will place the windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shafts in the park position.
2. Turn ignition switch OFF.
3. Observe wiper position through the park position marks in the blackout area at the base of the windshield.
4. Remove windshield wiper output arm cover from windshield wiper pivot arm by inserting a flat-blade screwdriver at the rear and lifting windshield wiper output arm cover off.
5. Remove nut retaining windshield wiper pivot arm to windshield wiper pivot shaft.
6. Turn ignition switch to RUN. Turn windshield wiper switch to LO and allow wipers to move to a straight-up-and-down position. Turn ignition switch OFF to stop wipers in this position.
CAUTION: Before reinstalling windshield wiper blade and arm assemblies, turn ignition switch to RUN, turn wiper switch to LO or HI, and then turn wiper switch OFF to cycle the wipers and allow them to park. Failure to cycle the wipers may result in incorrect wiper arm positioning causing the wipers to travel past their intended wipe area and possibly damage the vehicle.
7. Remove windshield wiper pivot arms by lifting straight up off pivot shafts.
INSTALLATION
1. Install windshield wiper pivot arm to windshield wiper pivot shaft, making sure the wiper blade tip is aligned with the park position reference mark on the windshield.
CAUTION: Before reinstalling windshield wiper blade and arm assemblies, turn ignition switch to RUN, turn wiper switch to LO or HI, and then turn wiper switch OFF to cycle the wipers and allow them to park. Failure to cycle the wipers may result in incorrect wiper arm positioning causing the wipers to travel past their intended wipe area and possibly damage the vehicle.
2. Make sure the windshield wiper blade is fully seated on the windshield wiper pivot arm before operating the windshield wiper motor to verify the correction.
3. Install nut retaining windshield wiper pivot arm to pivot shaft and tighten to 30-40 Nm (22-29 Lb-Ft).
4. Install windshield wiper output arm cover to windshield wiper pivot arm.
5. Check windshield wipers for proper operation and positioning. Refer to adjustments. Adjustments
