Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Driver Door Only

1. Verify the customer concern by operating the handles, locks, latches and mechanisms.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

NOTE: Be sure the battery is fully charged. Before starting electrical diagnosis, check for mechanical binding by manually operating the door lock. Then operate the door lock system several times by pressing the LOCK and UNLOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter, and observing the operation of driver door lock and liftgate (wagon) lock.

3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported malfunction is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
4. If the fault is not visually evident, use the New Generation Star (NGS) tester to retrieve continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module.

NOTE: If the RAP module cannot be accessed by the NGS tester, diagnose the module communication network.

5. If DTCs are retrieved, go to the RAP module DTCs index.
6. If no DTCs are retrieved and self-test passed, go to the symptom chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
