B - Brakes Lock Up During Light Brake Application

B1 - VERIFY CONCERN
- Road test vehicle.
- Use light brake applications to slow the vehicle from approximately 80km/h to 56 km/h (50 to 35 MP/h).
- Do the brakes lock-up?
YES - Go to B2
NO - Vehicle OK.

B2 - CHECK FOR BINDING OR STICKING BRAKE COMPONENTS
- Turn ignition to "OFF".
- Check for binding or sticking caliper pistons, caliper slide pins, wheel cylinders and rear brake components.
- Do any of the components bind or stick?
YES - Repair or replace components as necessary. Retest.
NO - Go to B3.

B3 - CHECK PARKING BRAKE COMPONENTS
- Check parking brake components for damage, seized condition, and proper adjustment. Testing and Inspection
- Are the parking brake components OK?
YES - Go to B4.
NO - Repair or replace components as necessary. Retest.

B4 - INSPECT BRAKE SHOES AND LININGS
- Inspect shoes and linings for contamination, excessive wear, cracks, or peeling. Refer to Disc Brake System
- Are the brake shoes and linings OK?
YES - Go to B5.
NO - Replace the shoes and linings as necessary.

B5 - CHECK FOR LOOSE BRAKE COMPONENT MOUNTINGS
- Check for loose or damaged disc brake caliper mounting bolts and brake backing plate bolts.
- Are the Component mountings OK?
YES - Check the anti-lock brake control system. Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems
NO - Repair as necessary. Retest.
