Disassembly And Assembly

DISASSEMBLY

NOTE:
Do Not Mix Components
If the connecting rod bearings, connecting rods, connecting rod caps, pistons or piston pins are to be reused, each one must be identified so that it can be installed in its original position. Components should not be mixed, but should be assembled with the components, and in the cylinder bore that they were removed from.

1. Remove the connecting rod bearings from the connecting rod and the rod cap.
2. Remove the piston rings (6149) using a suitable piston ring expander.
3. Mark the pistons to ensure assembly with the same connecting rod and installation in the same cylinder from which they were removed.

4. Place (A) Sleeve T71P-6135-P1 in (B) Base T68P-6135-A1 and position (C) Pin Locator D86P-6135-A or equivalent into the center hole of Sleeve T71P-6135-P1.

5. Position the piston pin (6135) over the pin locator.

6. Place driver T71P-6135-P1 into the bore of the piston pin and press the pin out of the connecting rod.

ASSEMBLY
1. Place Sleeve T71P-6135-P1 in Base T68P-6135-A1 and position Pin Locator D86P-6135-A or equivalent into the center hole of Sleeve T71P-6135-P1.
2. Position the piston to be assembled onto the locator.
3. Press the piston pin into the piston and the connecting rod with Driver T81P-6135-A2.
4. Install the piston rings using a suitable expander. The compression ring is to be installed with the grooved side facing down.

NOTE: The connecting rod bearings are selective fit to provide the necessary clearance. Measure the clearance and select the proper connecting rod bearing.

When installing the connecting rod bearings, ensure that the tab on the bearing engages the slot in the connecting rod and the rod cap and that the bearings are fully seated.

5. Install a connecting rod bearing in the connecting rod and the rod cap.
6. Check the connecting rod to crankshaft clearance. Service and Repair
