Gravity Bleeding

WARNING: BRAKE FLUID CONTAINS POLYGLYCOL ETHERS AND POLYGLYCOLS. AVOID CONTACT WITH EYES. WASH HANDS THOROUGHLY AFTER HANDLING. IF BRAKE FLUID CONTACTS EYES, FLUSH EYES WITH RUNNING WATER FOR 15 MINUTES. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IF IRRITATION PERSISTS. IF TAKEN INTERNALLY, DRINK WATER AND INDUCE VOMITING. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY.

CAUTION: Do not allow the brake master cylinder reservoir to run dry during the bleeding operation. Keep the brake master cylinder reservoir filled with the specified brake fluid. Never reuse brake fluid that has been drained from the hydraulic system.

CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water.

1. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir with High Performance DOT-3 Brake Fluid.

NOTE: Be sure to check the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir often. Do not let it run dry.

2. If equipped with rear drums, loosen both wheel cylinder bleeder screws and leave open until clear, bubble-free brake fluid flows.
3. Tighten the wheel cylinder bleeder screws.
4. If equipped with rear discs, loosen the rear disc brake caliper bleeder screws one at a time and leave open until clear, bubble-free brake fluid flows.
5. Tighten the rear bleeder screws.
6. Open the front disc brake caliper bleeder screws one at a time and leave open until clear, bubble-free brake fluid flows.
7. Tighten the front disc brake caliper bleeder screws.

NOTE: Performing the NGS SERVICE BLEED FUNCTION drives trapped air from the hydraulic anti-lock actuator. Subsequent bleeding removes the air from the system to the bleeder screws.

NOTE: The engine must be running to provide adequate voltage to the anti-lock brake control module during the anti-lock control portion of the service bleed.

8. Connect the scan tool.
9. Start the engine and depress the brake pedal to half of the full extension position.
10. Access FUNCTION TEST mode and press the trigger to run the SERVICE BLEED FUNCTION.
11. Repeat steps 4 through 6.
12. Repeat steps 10 and 11 one time (after performing a total of two NGS cycles and two additional conventional bleeds).
13. Install wheels and tires.
14. Lower vehicle. Retest brake system.
