58. Install the input shaft gear assembly.





59. Install the output shaft gear assembly.





60. Install the shift fork shaft assembly and detent ball.-

WARNING: WHEN REMOVING THE SHIFT FORK AND SHAFT ASSEMBLY THE DETENT BALL WILL FLY OUT. HOLD A SHOP TOWEL OVER THE DETENT BALL AND SPRING TO PREVENT THE BALL FROM BECOMING AIRBORNE.

61. Shift into second and fourth gears.





62. Install the shift lever shaft and shift fork selector lever.





63. Install the pin.





64. Install the shift rod and gate.





65. Install the shift gate bolt.





66. Install the reverse idler shaft and gear.





67. Install the magnet.





68. Align the end of the gear selector interlock sleeve with the gear selector arm. Face the reverse idler gear shaft hole in the direction shown.
69. Apply a small bead of sealant to the transaxle mating surface.





70. Install the transaxle case.
(1) Install the transaxle case.
(2) Install the thirteen bolts.





71. Install the bolt and bracket.





72. Install the transaxle mount.
(1) Install the transaxle mount.
(2) Install the two transaxle mount bolts.





73. Install the backup lamp switch.





74. Install the lock bolt, spring, and ball.





75. Install the shift rail guide bolt.

NOTE: Ensure that the bolt is in the groove of the shift rail.





76. Install the reverse idler shaft lock bolt.





77. Install the output shaft fifth gear spacer and fifth gear.





78. Install the fifth gear bushing.





79. Inspect the clearance between the fifth/reverse synchronizer sleeve and its shift fork.





80. Install the input shaft fifth gear.





81. Install the synchronizer blocking ring.

CAUTION: The synchronizer blocking rings are not interchangeable. Be sure to keep them in the order that they were removed.





82. Install the shift fork and synchronizer hub assembly.





83. Install the shift fork roll pin.





84. Install the synchronizer blocking ring.

CAUTION: The synchronizer blocking rings are not interchangeable. Be sure to keep them in the order that they were removed.





85. Install the reverse synchronizer blocking ring retainer and spacer.
86. Shift the transaxle into first gear.





87. Use Input shaft Holder T88C-7025-GH to install the input and output locknuts.

CAUTION: Do not reuse locknuts.

88. Apply a small bead of sealant to the case and cover mating surface.





89. Install the case cover.
(1) Install the case cover.
(2) Install the nine bolts.
90. Remove the transaxle from Bench Mounted Holding Fixture T57L-500-B.
