Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Tension Adjustment

1. Fully release the parking brake.
2. Raise vehicle on an axle-type hoist.
3. Remove parking brake rear cable and conduit from black plastic front parking brake cable retainer under floorpan by unsnapping retainer and pulling out parking brake rear cable and conduit.
4. Removal of cable tension requires two people to disengage and reload the parking brake cable adjuster. One person is to unlock the parking brake cable adjuster by pulling downward on the clip. While clip is disengaged, the second person is to apply the parking brake control fully to the last notch position. The tensioner spring will compress allowing cable slack to return.
5. Lock the parking brake cable adjuster by pushing up on the clip. Make sure locking lever is secure by rotating it toward threaded rod. Wrap tape or wire around the locking lever and threaded rod to prevent accidental release.
