Vehicle Certification Label

The vehicle certification label, mounted on the LH door lock face panel or door pillar, provides the following information:
- engine identification
- an engine code (letter or number) which can be found in the engine identification chart to determine the engine type and size

A symbol code on the engine identification label, attached to the engine identifies each engine for determining parts usage; for instance, engine displacement and model year.

Engine parts often differ within a safety certification label family. Verification of identification codes ensures that the proper parts are obtained. The codes contain all pertinent information relating to:
- dates,
- optional equipment,
- revisions.

The Ford Master Parts Catalog contains a complete listing of the codes and their applications.
