CLEANING
Clean the camshaft in solvent and wipe it dry.

Remove light scuffs, scores or nicks from the camshaft machined surfaces with a smooth oil stone.

INSPECTION

NOTE: If camshaft journals are excessively worn or scored, replace the camshaft. The cylinder head bearing journals can be refinished to accommodate a 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) oversize camshaft. If the cylinder head journals cannot be bored out 0.5 mm (0.020 inch), replace the cylinder head.

Check camshaft bores for size, taper, roundness, alignment and finish. If any of these exceed the limits given in Specifications, rebore cylinder head to accept oversize camshaft or replace cylinder head.
