Engine Lubrication: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect and remove the oil pressure sensor from the engine.
2. Connect an Engine Oil Pressure Gauge 303-088 and Transmission Test Adapter 307-D003 or equivalent to the oil pressure sensor oil galley port.
3. Run the engine until normal operating temperature is reached.
4. Run the engine at 3000 rpm and record the gauge reading.
5. The oil pressure should be 138-310 kPa (20-45 psi) at 3000 rpm.
6. If the pressure is not within specification, check the following possible sources:
- insufficient oil
- oil leakage
- worn or damaged oil pump
- oil pump screen cover and tube
- excessive main bearing clearance
- excessive connecting rod bearing clearance
