Conventional Instrument Cluster

Brake System
The brake system warning is displayed when parking brake is not fully released or there is a leak in the hydraulic brake system.

Anti-Lock Brakes
ABS warning indicates that the anti-lock feature is disabled. The warning goes out when the concern is resolved.

Check Engine (MIL)
The CHECK ENGINE (MIL) warning information is sent by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on the Data Link Connector (DLC).

Anytime a CHECK ENGINE (MIL) warning occurs, refer to Powertrain Management.

Charging System
Charging system warning (battery symbol) is displayed when there is a concern in the charging system. The charging system warning (battery symbol) remains lit continuously while the concern is present. It goes out when the concern is resolved.

Air Bag
AIR BAG warning is displayed when there is a concern in the air bag system.

Safety Belt
If driver safety belt is not fastened with ignition switch turned to RUN, the safety belt warning will illuminate steadily for approximately one minute. The lighting control module chime will also sound for approximately 6 (±2) seconds. If the driver fastens the safety belt while the safety belt warning is illuminated or lighting control module is sounding they will turn off immediately.

Low Fuel
The LOW FUEL indicator comes on when fuel gauge indicates approximately 1/8 of a tank. Ignition switch must be turned to RUN for this indicator to light.

Air Suspension
The air suspension indicator (AIR SUSP) turns ON when:
- An air suspension system failure occurs.
- The disable switch, located in the LH side of the luggage compartment, is in the OFF position.

High Beam
The high beam indicator will be displayed when the high beam headlamps are on or when the high beam headlamps are flashed.

LH/RH Turn
The turn signal indicators flash when activated by the multi-function switch. They also operate in a dual flashing mode as a hazard indicator.

Overdrive Off
OD OFF indicator indicates that the transmission control switch on the gearshift lever has been pressed. When the indicator is lit, the transmission will lock out OVERDRIVE, allowing operation in first through third gears only. Pressing the transmission control switch again will re-enable OVERDRIVE. The transmission will be in the O/D ON mode when the engine is started even if the O/D OFF mode was selected when the engine was last running.

Fail Safe Cooling
The fail safe cooling system allows limited engine operation in the event of excessive engine temperature. The fail safe cooling mode is entered when engine temperature exceeds approximately 124°C (255°F) as measured by the Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) sensor.

During fail safe cooling mode the:
- Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge pegs to hot (H).
- Thermometer symbol will illuminate.
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (CHECK ENGINE) will illuminate.
- Powertrain control module will disable four of the eight cylinders by turning their respective fuel injectors off. This reduced performance allows the engine to cool down.

When the engine temperature reaches approximately 166°C (330°F) the:
- Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge remains pegged hot (H).
- Thermometer symbol will flash.
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (CHECK ENGINE) remains illuminated.
- Powertrain control module will disable all eight cylinders by turning their respective fuel injectors off, resulting in engine shut down.
