Functional Lock Cylinder



Lock Cylinder Functional


The following procedure applies to vehicle that have a functional ignition switch lock cylinder. Lock cylinder keys are available for these vehicle, or the lock cylinder key numbers are know and the proper key can be made.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Turn the ignition switch lock cylinder to the RUN position.
3. Place a 3.17 mm (0.125 inch) diameter wire pin or small drift punch in the hole in the upper steering column shroud under the ignition switch lock cylinder. Depress the retaining pin while pulling out on the ignition switch lock cylinder to remove it from the steering column lock cylinder housing.






INSTALLATION

1. Install the ignition switch lock cylinder by turning it to the RUN position and depressing the retaining pin. Insert the ignition switch lock cylinder into the steering column lock cylinder housing. Make sure the ignition switch lock cylinder is fully seated and aligned in the interlocking washer before turning the key to the OFF position. This will permit the cylinder retaining pin to extend into the ignition switch lock cylinder housing hole.
2. Rotate the ignition switch lock cylinder using lock cylinder key to make sure the switch works in all positions.
3. Connect the battery ground.
