Cover Installation

1. Apply Silicone Rubber D6AZ-19562-AA or BA or equivalent meeting Ford specifications ESB-M4G92-A or ESE-M4G195-A. Install axle housing cover and tighten axle housing cover bolt to 38 - 52 Nm (28 - 38 ft. lbs.).

CAUTION: Make sure machined surfaces on both axle housing cover and rear axle housing are clean before installing the new silicone sealant. Inside of axle must be covered when cleaning the machined surface to prevent axle contamination. Tighten the axle housing cover bolts in a crosswise pattern to prevent distortion of axle housing cover.

NOTE: Axle housing cover must be installed within 15 minutes of application of the silicone rubber or new silicone rubber must be applied.

2. Add Premium Rear Axle Lubricant XY-8OW90-QL or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSP-M2C197-A until it is 6 - 14 mm (1/4 - 9/16 inch) below bottom of fill hole. Add 118 ml (4 oz) of Additive Friction Modifier C8AZ-19B546-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification EST-M2C118-A to Traction-Lok axles. Install filler plug and tighten to 20 - 40 Nm (15 - 29 ft. lbs.).
