Component Tests and General Diagnostics
CAUTION: Do not handle any windshield wiper motor abusively when diagnosing wiper operations, as it will damage the magnets and make the windshield wiper motor inoperative. Rough handling of new replacement windshield wiper motors may also damage the magnets.
1. To test the windshield wiper motor on the vehicle, disconnect the windshield wiper motor from the windshield wiper assembly and disconnect the electrical connector.
2. Connect the green lead from the test equipment, such as Rotunda Alternator, Regulator, Battery and Starter Tester 010-00725 or equivalent, to the battery positive (+) post.
3. Connect the positive (red) lead from the tester to the common brush terminal.
4. Connect a ground first to the low-speed connection and then to the high-speed connection at the connector plug.
The current draw should not exceed 3.5 amps at low-speed and 5.5 amps at high-speed.
