Test Notes
Normal OperationNOTE: Circuit 9-MA29 (BN/BU) is attached to the side of the RH crash sensor case. In addition, the case is grounded to the vehicle.
The air bag diagnostic monitor measures the resistance between pin C20b-20, circuit 9-MA29 (BN/BU) and pin C20a-3, circuit 91-MA10 (BK/RD) (air bag diagnostic monitor reference ground). If the air bag diagnostic monitor measures a difference of more than 2.0 ohms between the ground at pin C20b-20, circuit 9-MA29 (BN/BU) and he ground at pin C20a-3, circuit 91-MA10 (BK/RD) it will flash Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 44.
Possible Causes
High resistance on air bag diagnostic monitor pin C20b-20, circuit 9-MA29 (BA/BU) to ground can be caused by:
1. A poor connection due to loose mounting, dirt, or corrosion at the RH crash sensor mounting location.
2. An open or damaged wire in circuit 9-MA29 (BN/BU).
3. An open wire or loose circuit 9-MA29 (BN/BU) wire attachment inside the RH crash sensor.
4 A poor reference ground at pins C20a-3, circuit 91-MA10 (BK/RD), and C20a-5, circuit 91-MA10A (BK/RD), of the air bag diagnostic monitor.
