Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Reclaim the refrigerant.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) and unclip the cable.
4. Raise and support the vehicle.
5. Remove the radiator shroud.
6. Remove the right-hand front wheel housing liner (two-part).
7. Loosen the drive belt and remove it.
8. Remove the coolant line bracket.
9. Remove the front exhaust pipe (seven nuts).
^ Unclip the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) cable.
10. Remove the heat shield from the air conditioning compressor.
11. Remove the air conditioning compressor.
^ Remove the four screws (two shown).
^ Remove the line connection.
NOTE: Seal the line and the connection with plugs.
12. Disconnect the air conditioning compressor electrical connector.
^ Remove the A/C compressor.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Check A/C system for normal operation.
NOTE:
^ Replace the O-rings and coat them with refrigerant oil.
^ When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
