Steering: Description and Operation

Steering Column And Gear:

The steering system consists of a steering wheel that encases the airbag module. The steering wheel is attached to the steering column assembly with a single retaining bolt. The steering gear pinion is connected to the steering column via a flexible coupling. The coupling is fixed to the pinion with a pinch bolt and to the column with a clamp plate and bolt.

The steering gear is mounted on the front sub-frame assembly. Hydraulic fluid pressure is supplied to the steering gear by a hydraulic pump. The pump has a remote reservoir which is attached to the right hand suspension unit.
